Kidspace Children's Museum in Pasadena

Let your kids spend the day exploring!

September 22, 2016
We recently have the pleasure of being guests at the Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena and my son had so much fun there that it was hard to get him to leave. As a parent I feel like it is a fabulous museum with well thought out exhibits that engage and entertain kids for hours on end. Why is the museum so awesome? Because virtually every exhibit is educational, hands-on and intended for kids. In addition, the museum is kid friendly with a private area for nursing mothers and changing tables in both the mens’ and womens’ restrooms.

The Kidspace Museum is the perfect place for exploration. With a combination of outdoor and
indoor exhibits (over 3 acres), there is something for kids of all ages to touch and explore. The Early Childhood Learning Center is the perfect exhibit for kids 3 and under to enjoy and explore away from the older kids. It’s great for crawlers because it is a no shoe indoor area. The Physics Forest, is perfect for the older kids because they are able to understand the concepts the exhibits are intended to teach. However, this does not mean that the younger kids will not enjoy it. My son simply enjoyed tugging on the ropes or spinning the wheels. Though his favorites were the climbing towers (both the InterAntics Climber and the Raindrop Climbing Tower), crawling through the “ant hole,” making music at the Pepper Tree Music Jam, and the water play in Kirby’s Kids Corner.

The Roberts Pavilion is a great place for kids to see, play, touch and ask questions. There are books, toy animals, toy insects, shells, mounted insects, and glass enclosures with all kinds of creepy crawlies, like tarantulas and cockroaches. My son enjoyed putting together magnetic insects, looking at the enclosures, and playing with the toy animals. There is so much more to do: like take a splash in the Interpretive Arroyo (bring your splash pad clothes and water shoes), dine with bugs, ride the trikes, and get creative in the Imagination Workshop.

With so many exhibits (more than I can list here) and so much space you cannot go wrong with spending the day at the kidspace museum. Your child will love it!

There is a cafe at the museum where you can buy lunch. It has a pretty varied selection of food at a decent price and a seating area with umbrellas for shade. If you choose to pack a lunch you can walk out of the museum and have a picnic at Brookside Park, just a couple of hundred feet away. There is plenty of shade and picnic tables.

TIPS:

  1. Bring a towel, extra clothes and shoes for the water play. With the splash pad and Arroyo Adventure and mud play the kids will get wet and dirty.

  2. Use this coupon for $3 off admission

  3. The outdoor areas have some shade, but bring sunscreen and hats to make the outdoor play more comfortable.
