NEURO-IGNITE WORKSHOPS
The Neuro-Ignite workshop series introduces neuroscience concepts in a highly interactive manner, with a curriculum designed to excite middle school and high school students about the field of neuroscience and beyond. These workshops integrate technology, hands-on activities, experiments and online resources to introduce students to the science of the brain and nervous system. The workshops are conducted by students of Whitney High School. Space limited to 27.

LEGO CLUB
Children will build, create and share their very own LEGO creations based on a chosen theme. The library will provide the LEGO, you provide the imagination! Space limited to 20.

YOUNG REMBRANDTS/ MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
Children will create a portrait of Martin Luther King, Jr., the great civil rights leader. Students will learn a lesson in drawing faces, understanding proportion and applying shading to create a more realistic illustration. Seating limited to 20. Fee: $5/child. No refunds.

SCIENCE-N-PLAY
Students will learn about the forces at work in a tornado and the science of natural vortexes by creating their own tornado in a bottle. Space limited to 20.

BOOK CLUB FOR KIDS
Children are invited to participate in a discussion of the book "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. Children will work together to discuss plot summary and important elements within the story such as themes, character development, imagery, etc. Children are expected to be advanced readers to participate. Space limited to 10. Participants are asked to read at the same pace as the club.

ART INNOVATORS/ SNOWY MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE
Start the new year right by unleashing your creativity! Children will paint a beautiful mountain landscape for winter using acrylic paints on canvas. Learn painting techniques while developing your own style! Fee $5/child. No refunds.

HOMEWORK HELP
An afterschool homework help program is offered for Cerritos resident students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. There will be two sessions each on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Art Studio of the Children's Library. Students should bring their homework and a book to read or their library card to check out reading material to each class meeting. A parent or a designated individual is required to sign students in and out of class. Sign up early. Space limited to 12. Please register for only one of the two Homework Help sessions.
