Cerritos Library: Feb/March Kids Programs that require Registration

Registration started Feb 1st (Feb 8th for non-residents) and will continue until classes are full.

CHILD CREATIVITY LAB/FLOATING BOAT CHALLENGE

Children will work together to design and construct a boat made of reclaimed and reusable materials. The challenge is to build a boat that functionally floats in water for at least 10 seconds while holding the weight of 10 nickels. The fee is $5 per child. No refunds will be given. Limited to 20.

CHINESE DRAGON HEAD CRAFT
Children will use their own handprint to create a stunning, brightly colored dragon head, which will be used to assemble a beautiful decoration for the Chinese New Year celebration. Limited to 24.

VALENTINE'S DAY GREETING CARD
Children will use a heart-shaped cutout to create their very own greeting card. They will then decorate their card and personalize it with a special Valentine's Day message. Limited to 24.

DAVE BOATMAN/WIMPY KID
This educational and creative hour of cartoon instruction will inspire students in their love of cartoons and drawing. Limited to 75.

ORIGAMI FOR KIDS
Children will learn to create their own origami piece to carry with them and share with family and friends. Limited to 20.

DATABASE WORKSHOP FOR KIDS
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of searching the Library's online databases for kids. Limited to 27.

PRESIDENTIAL CRAFTING/STORIES WITH ABE AND GEORGE
Come celebrate Presidents' Day with Abraham Lincoln and George Washington! Through stories and songs, children learn the history of Presidents' Day and why it is celebrated. Children will then have the option to create an Abe and George bookmark or a hat once worn by both presidents. Limited to 40.

SCIENCE-N-PLAY WORKSHOP
In this hand-on workshop, students will create pinwheels and conduct experiments to learn about the power of wind. Limited to 20.

LEGO CLUB
Children will build, create and share their very own LEGO creations based on a chosen theme. The library will provide the LEGO, you provide the imagination! Limited to 20.

CREATIVE WRITING FOR KIDS/STORY
In this creative writing workshop, children will learn about various aspects of story writing. Limited to 27.

ART-IN-SCIENCE WORKSHOP
Students will learn about origami, the art of paper-folding, and its relationship to the mathematical concepts of geometry. Space is limited to 20 students.

YOUNG REMBRANDTS/FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT/WINDOW
Students will learn about world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and create their own window inspired by Wright's unique style. The fee is $5 per child. No refunds will be given. Limited to 20.

NEURO-IGNITE WORKSHOPS

This series introduces neuroscience concepts in a highly interactive manner, with a curriculum designed to excite students about the field of neuroscience and beyond. The workshops are conducted by Whitney High School students. Limited to 27.

Students will be provided with an introduction to formal and informal logic, truth values, deductive reasoning and logical fallacies. Space is limited to 15 participants.
