Our doctoring experience at Doc McStuffins: The Exhibit

At the Discovery Cube in Orange County through Sept 10, 2017

The Doc is in. At the OC Cube that is. Based on the award-winning Disney Junior television series of the same name, Doc McStuffins: The Exhibit at the Discovery Cube OC lets your two to six-year-old play doctor at the McStuffins Toy Hospital. Running now through September 10, 2017, this exhibit is Disney Junior’s first ever partnership with a museum to create an exhibit based on one of its most beloved characters. The Discovery Cube invited our three-year-old and me to start our doctor training and share our experience with you all.

The exhibit is included with your regular admission, and isn’t just about fun and games. It teaches children about doctors, healthy habits, empathy and nurturing care. To enhance your child’s experience I highly recommend that they bring their own stuffed animal along with them (only a limited number of stuffed animals are available at the exhibit).

Right past the reception desk of the Toy Hospital, you’ll encounter the Emergency Room, where sick and injured toys can be treated at any one of seven different beds. All kinds of instruments are available for the little docs to diagnose and treat their patients.

For the toys who need more advanced care, the Operating Room allows your little surgeon to fix up a toy dinosaur. This unique activity shows Doc McStuffins on screen giving step-by-step instructions on how to fix the dinosaur. Our three-year-old enjoyed following the instructions and felt so proud of himself after following all the steps!

The Nursery teaches kids about all the fun involved in baby care with bottle feeding chairs, changing stations, cribs and more. My son enjoyed feeding his toy bear in the rocking chair. And finally, the Pet Vet area emphasizes all the grooming, hygiene and care that goes into taking care of your very own pet. They can even diagnose pet toys with a cool X-ray scanning machine.

More importantly, Doc McStuffins: The Exhibit gives us parents the opportunity to talk to our kids about topics like illness, injury, doctor’s visits, hygiene and proper personal care in a fun, safe, non-threatening environment. It also gives kids an experience that will help them to feel comfortable in a healthcare setting. We enjoyed our doctoring experience and we know you and your little ones will too!
