Our family loves Magformers. In fact we like them so much that my son had his first Magformers set at age one. Not only are they great for building and creating, but their attractive colors and shapes make them an ingenious way to play and teach him his colors and shapes. Magformers uses the strongest Rare Earth Neodymium magnets making them perfect for even the littlest creator since the pieces join together effortlessly.
Recently we were offered the opportunity to try the new Hi-Tech Walking Robot Set and my son loved it. The 45 piece set includes 37 Magformers shapes and the rest are parts for the robot itself. The packaging is incredibly easy to undo, and you’ll need three AAA batteries to power the robot. Once everything is unpacked, the robot snaps together in literally less than one minute. It can start walking immediately, and its eyes light up when the power’s on.
My three-year-old enjoyed seeing the robot walk- forward or backward- depending on how the robot top and bottom are attached. He also experimented with where to attach the robot head and arms and he quickly figured out how he can make the robot’s body spin around, and spent many minutes laughing his head off. The rest of the time we spent decorating the body with different costumes using the included Magformers pieces- the pieces simply snap onto the robot’s body. It’s amazing how many different hats and clothes you can form with just a few shapes. Since the Magformer pieces are compatible we had even more options in creating our robot because we could use our previous set.
Magformers chose some great pieces to include with this set that don’t come with any of the standard starter sets, including the trapezoid, right angle isosceles, mini rectangle, half circle and the awesome half arch. These additional pieces really transformed our Magformers set, and makes the building system much more flexible and detailed. This translates into more hours of imaginative play!
