Long Beach Playhouse and Held2gether, Improv for Life are teaming up for the 3rd Annual “Miracle on Anaheim Street”, a holiday variety to show to benefit the WomenShelter of Long Beach. Long Beach’s premiere comedy troupe, Held2gether will perform a dozen holiday themed comedic improv scenes, sketches and musical numbers to ring in the holiday sprit and celebrate WSLB’s great mission.

This quick-paced, highly theatrical re-telling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale will delight the entire family. In 19th century England, the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future show Ebenezer Scrooge the poverty of his material wealth and the blessings that come with generosity. Can they convince him to change before it’s too late? Come spend time with the characters you’ve come to love – Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and of course the irascible miser himself. This production will be the Christmas party needed to set you and your loved ones on the path to holiday cheer.

The Long Beach Ballet’s Artistic Director, David Wilcox, pulled out all the stops for the 35th production of the classical tale. This production boasts a full symphony orchestra, a flying sleigh, a real live horse, on-stage pyrotechnics, and a cast of over 200. The enchanting scenery was created by former Disney designers Elliot Hessayon and Scott Schaffer, the detailed costumes designed by Australian artist Adrian Clark, and special effects by renowned magician Franz Harary.

Recapture the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas with this timeless Dickens classic and all your favorite characters—Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, the Fezziwigs, the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet-to-come—and, as always, Hal Landon Jr. as everyone's favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge (“The quintessential Ebenezer Scrooge!” according to the Daily Pilot). Recommendation: Ages 6 and up. No children under age six will be admitted to A Christmas Carol. Everyone—regardless of age—must have a ticket, sit in a seat and be able to sit quietly through the performance.

Beauty and the Beast: A Christmas Rose is an updated version of the classic tale presented in the traditional British Panto style. The play features magic with a comedic twist, contemporary music, and dancing with alumni from “So You Think You Can Dance.” This creative team behind this production includes Tony Award-nomined director, Sheldon Epps; choreographer Mandy Moore (of La La Land); writer Kris Lythgoe (Peter Pan & Tinker Bell: A Pirates Christmas); and musical director Michael Orland (American Idol). A portion of the the proceeds from the production will be given to The Pasadena Playhouse Outreach and Education Program by Lythgoe Family Panto.
