Halloween fun at Lakewood parks

Halloween fun in Lakewood includes two traditional events for the whole family:

Halloween carnivals at the parks on Oct. 31 and a Haunted Jail hosted by the Lakewood Sheriff's Station on Oct. 25.


The Lakewood Sheriff's Station transforms into the Haunted Jail with food, fun and games on Friday, Oct. 25 from 4:30 to 10 p.m. The scary jail (ages 12 and older is built and hosted by station volunteers, Explorer Scouts and deputies donating their time.

The event also features food, pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, face painting and more. The Haunted Jail is free, but tickets for these added features must be purchased at the event.

Enter the Haunted Jail on foot through the rear gate of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station (5130 Clark Avenue) from Civic Center Drive. Parking is best on the south end of Civic Center Drive on or near the vacant lot and Angelo M. Iacoboni Library.

Lakewood's traditional Halloween Carnivals offer fun and safety for youngsters on the year's scariest night. Special carnival activities are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Biscailuz, Bloomfield, Bolivar, Boyar, Del Valle, Mayfair, Palms and San Martin parks.

“Haunted houses” for little ghosts and goblins to venture inside will be available at Bolivar, Del Valle, Palms and San Martin parks. 

Each park will have a special theme:
• Biscailuz Park: "Nintendo”
• Bloomfield Park: "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"
• Bolivar Park: "Up"
• Boyar Park: "Toy Story"
• Del Valle Park: "Avengers: Endgame”
• Mayfair Park: "Monsters, Inc."
• Palms Park: "Toy Story 4"
• San Martin Park: "Detective Pikachu/Pokémon"

There will be inflatable attractions at Mayfair Park for an additional fee.

Volunteers are needed to run carnival booths and assist with the haunted houses.
