The Cerritos Library is conducting a Bookmark Art Contest

The program is for students in grades K-6 and the theme is "Family." The entry form with the contest instructions is available on the library’s website. The winning entries will be posted on the Cerritos Library’s website and the winners will receive a certificate of recognition.

A Smithsonian Affiliations Virtual Scholar Talk, “A Legacy of Healing, Rebirth and Leadership,” will be presented at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 19. Smithsonian Affiliations, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and two Affiliates—the Japanese American National Museum and the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience—will present a discussion of examples of activism and finding joy after the destruction of trauma, resilience in response to oppression and ways this has been observed throughout history in Asian American communities. To register for this free program, please go online to the Cerritos Library’s website at cerritoslibrary.us. The event will be a simultaneous broadcast to Smithsonian Affiliate partners across the U.S. The Cerritos Library is proud to be a Smithsonian Affiliate.

The Cerritos Library is now offering cardholders access to the Brainfuse JobNow and VetNow databases through the library's website. JobNow is a versatile online service designed to support every step of the job search process. JobNow features a job search and live online coaches available to assist in preparing a resume, writing a cover letter and preparing for job interviews. Brainfuse VetNow offers support for veterans and their families navigating the VA (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) system, as well as providing academic tutoring and employment transition assistance. The subscription cost is paid by the California State Library with emergency federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds earmarked for California’s 1,120 libraries.

The winning photography, poetry and short story entries in the 22nd Annual Contests for Talented Teens have been posted on the library's website. Congratulations to the teens on their excellent work! The contest was generously sponsored by the Friends of the Cerritos Library.

The Cerritos Library’s Sidewalk Service will not be available on Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. The City of Cerritos is proud to honor United States’ veterans for their service with a special video tribute featuring a message from the mayor. The video will be broadcast on Cerritos TV3 at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, and will also be posted on the City’s website at cerritos.us, Facebook group and YouTube channel.
