Animals, rides, U-pick apples, berries, peaches and more!

Looking for a fun family adventure? Get into your car and take a day trip to some of these farms where you can enjoy U-pick produce (like apples, berries, veggies, peaches and more!) as well as some good old farm fun (animals, tractor rides, tastings and more!). 

Dates for when certain fruits and vegetables are available vary depending on how wet or dry the weather has been. Any months listed below are only guidelines. I recommend calling any farm your are interested in ahead of time so that you know what to expect when you get there.

LA COUNTY

Gilchrist Farm

Open 9am - 6pm daily during the month of October, for the Harvest Festival. Weekend activities include mule drawn wagon rides, pony rides, face painting, pumpkin decorating, live entertainment, caramel apples, roasted corn on the cob, food trucks, petting zoo, straw slide, straw maze, pig races, free goat milking demonstrations and more.

M&M Peaches

Opens weekends through September, for u-pick peaches, as long as there are peaches left. Check their Facebook or call them for updates, as the peach season goes very quickly.

Brian Ranch Airport U-Pick Orchard features a wide variety of tree fruit maturing from early June until late October. Open Saturdays & Sundays from 8am - 2pm, during the picking season. Plums are typically available during the month of September, but be sure to contact the farm ahead of time to see what is available.


ORANGE COUNTY

Tanaka Farms

During the fall, this family farm offers a pumpkin patch, tractor rides, a petting zoo, U-pick produce, and a corn maze. Weekends offer more activites such as ATV rides, crafts, face painting, a snack shack, and more. This year, Tanaka Farms is partnering with Sanrio, to bring Kello Kitty and Friends to the farm, beginning on September 30th.


SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Snow-line Orchard

Specializes in a wide variety of farm-grown apples for sale. During weekends, The Rib Shack serves barbecue, and the farm store sells mini cider donuts, apple and boysenberry pie, cider, wine, hard cider and homemade apple brandy. Check their Facebook page for updates on apple availability and open dates.

Willowbrook Apple Farm

U-pick apple picking begins on October 7th and is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. Pick your own fresh, crisp Stayman Winesap apples (fill a bag and pay a flat rate) and make your own cider using an old fashioned cider press. You can pick your own raspberries and blackberries in September. At Willowbrook you can enjoy the orchard, visit the farm animals, and take pictures on vintage tractors. Subject to availability to it is best to call before making the drive to Yucaipa.

Home to 32 different apple varieties (only some are available for U-pick from Labor Day weekend and goes through Thanksgiving weekend). U -pick apples house are normally Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. During the summer fresh raspberries and strawberries are available for U-pick. Farm grown pumpkins are available for picking October and November. Since weather determines when these crops will be available for picking it is always best to call ahead.

Parrish Pioneer Ranch

Open 7 days a week, from 9-5 on the weekdays and 9-6 on the weekends, through November, Parrish Ranch produces many apple varieties that are unique to the area such as the Vasquez and King David, as well Parkdale Beauty, Ben Davis, Gravenstein, and Pink Pearl. Many products are open for sampling, including apple butters, apple cider, their amazing apple butter barbecue sauce, and apple salsa. Every variety of apple is available for tasting.

Riley’s Apple Farm

Riley’s Apple Farm is a U-pick apple, berry, & pumpkin farm open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. U-pick is available early July for raspberries & blackberries, late July to early August for apples, and mid to late September for pumpkins. End dates for U-pick vary depending on crop size and weather variation. Weekend activities include archery, tomahawk, and knife throw, and cider pressing. Call them if unsure what is available for U-pick or for any other questions.

Stetson Creek Ranch

A picturesque and historic working farm that has a variety of apple varieties. The farm opened on September 16th this year, and will stay open until the apples are gone. Call or follow their Facebook page for updates. Get Directions here.

Greenspot Farms

This farm grows a variety of citrus, avocados, pumpkins, and Christmas Trees. They also produce and sell honey from bees that live on the farm. During the month of October, this farm also offers a haunted hay ride.


VENTURA COUNTY

Underwood Family Farms

Underwood offers a wide variety of U-Pick produce, throughout the year. During the fall, you will find squash, tomatoes, peas, beans, and much more as well as a pumpkin patch and Fall Harvest Festival every day in October.

Ellie’s Persimmons

Eat while you pick tree ripened persimmons. Open weekends only starting on November 5th from 9am-4pm. Please wear sneakers, and call ahead to verify season start date.

Jack Creek Farms

Jack Creek Farms has U-pick produce throughout the year. In the fall, you can expect to find apples and pumpkins in the U-pick yards, in addition to fresh slushies and honey. The farm also has animals, and a wide array of antique farm equipment.

McCall Farm and Bed and Breakfast

The McCall Farm Bed and Breakfast offers pick and purchase fresh produce throughout the year. Scheduled to open for the season on September 30th. Be sure to call as the season draws closer to confirm produce availability.

Rutiz Family Farms

Pumpkins are now available, and U-pick raspberries and blackberries are still going into September.

Avila Valley Farms

Slo Creek Farms offers certified organic U-pick apples. Apple picking season typically starts August and continues through end of November, but call ahead to be sure.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo U-Pick

The Organic U-pick Apple Orchard normally opens for the season in early September and is open to the public Fridays-Sundays from 9:00 am- 5:00 pm through the end picking season (which typically lasts until early October).
