Family Fun Fall Guide 2017

Fall is here! That means it's time for fall, pumpkin and Halloween fun. Check out our list below of local fall festivals, pumpkin patches, fall and Halloween themed events and more. 

Festivals/events taking place on certain dates

Scarium of the Pacific
October 14th and 15th
Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach
Enjoy special Halloween programs, including the annual children’s costume contest, the creepy coloring contest, magic shows, underwater pumpkin carving, spooky storytelling, and kooky crafts, and meet eerie animals in the Great Hall. Activities included with aquarium admission. Kids in costume receive free admission during Scarium of the Pacific.

Peanuts The Great Pumpkin Patch Express
October 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd, and 28th & 29th
Orange Empire Railway Museum, Perris
Activities include trolley rides, pictures with Charlie Brown, Lucy & Snoopy, live entertainment, costume parade, hayrides, bounce houses and more! Tickets are $15 for ages 2 – 11 and $25 for ages 12 and up.

Kidspace Museum Pumpkin Festival
Saturday, October 14 & Sunday, October 15, 2017, 9:30am to 5:00pm
Brookside Park, Pasadena
Festival admission is free. Free live music/performances, selected crafts, and a photo opportunity at the pumpkin patch. Tickets are available for purchase to enjoy the bouncers, pony rides, games, food, and many other festival attractions.There is also plenty of free parking in Lot I of the Rose Bowl adjacent to Brookside Park.

Gymb-o-ween Costume Party
Fridays October 20th & October 27th, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm & 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm
4148 N Viking Way, Long Beach
Dress up your little ones for a spooktacular Halloween bash and costume party. Activities include: The Parade of Costumes, Ghoulishly Good Crafts, A Slime Squishing Station, Monsterly Fun Music, Climbing a Cobweb, Mask Making to Take Home. We’ll also have some sweet treats for your little pirates, pumpkins and princesses. Spaces fill up fast, so register today! Cost: $16-member; $21-non-member

Long Beach Zombie Fest
October 20 -22
Rainbow Lagoon, E Shoreline Dr, Long Beach
Join hordes of revelers for the annual "Long Beach Zombie Fest" at Rainbow Lagoon Park, a three-day invasion of undead music, guts, horror and fun for the whole family. The infamous Zombie Walk is happening on all three days of the fest, as well as free makeup services by artists from the Cinema Makeup School to help you look your gory worst. With costume and brain contests for all ages and states of decay.

BOO at the Zoo
October 21, 22, 28 & 29, 2017, 5:30 - 8:00 pm
Santa Ana Zoo, 1801 E. Chestnut Ave, Santa Ana
A "Merry not Scary" family friendly event where everyone is encouraged to come in costume! One of the safest places for children (ages 2-12) to trick-or-treat for Halloween enjoying goodies from 10 Stations, storytelling, animal presentations and more. For teenagers: "Teen Scream" Haunted House (a separate area, included in the price of admission). Admission: Members: $9.95, Non-Members: $19.95, Children under 2: free.

Placentia Presbyterian Church Fall Festival
Sunday, October 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
849 N Bradford Ave, Placentia
Free admission to this community event. Come and enjoy games, food trucks, candy, bounce house, live music, cake walk, face painting and more.

Kids Night Halloween Pumpkin Party
Tuesday, October 24th, 5:00-8:00 pm
Chick-fil-A: 4895 Candlewood St, Lakewood & 18605 Gridley Rd, Cerritos
Crafts, prizes,FREE Ice Dream, and Scavenger. Come in costume.

OktoBOOfest at the Fullerton Market
Thursday, October 26, 4:00-8:30pm
Downtown Plaza on Wilshire Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue
Free admission. Dress in your Halloween costume for trick-or-treating at vendor booths, kids' costume parade at 5:00pm and 6:45pm, pre-decorated pumpkin contest and more.

Treats in the Streets Autumn Festival
October 26, 2017, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
Old Towne Orange Plaza, 1 Plaza Square, Orange
This free community event includes games, trick or treating with local merchants, a costume parade, and entertainment for participants of all ages. Local non-profit groups provide delicious food items and tasty treats for a nominal charge.

Lakewood Sheriff’s Station Haunted Jail & Safety Expo
October 27th, 2017 4pm-10pm
Lakewood Sheriff's Station, 5130 Clark Ave, Lakewood
Come and enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, face-painting, food and more. Tickets must be purchased at the event.

Lakewood Teen Scene: Scary Movie Night
Lakewood Youth Center, 4658 Woodruff Ave Lakewood
Come and enjoy a scary movie and free popcorn.

4th Fridays at the Pike
Friday, October 27, 5pm - 10pm
The Pike Outlets, 95 South Pine Avenue, Long Beach
The Urban Hive Market is every 4th Friday of the month at the PIKE Outlets in Long Beach. This month, the theme will be Halloween. Vendors will pass out candy, and attendees are encouraged to wear costumes.

Emerson Elementary School Trunk or Treat
Friday, October 27, 5pm - 9pm
2625 Josie Ave, Long Beach
The event will include a carnival, silent auction and Trunk or Treat. All proceeds from the event fund field trips for the students. It is a public event and all are welcome.

Treasures and Treats at Cornerstone Church
Friday, October 27, 5:30-8pm
1000 N Studebaker Rd. Long Beach
Free admission. Hot Dog Dinner Combo available for $3 each.

Seal Beach Pumpkin Fest
Friday, October 27, 6pm - 8pm
151 Marina Dr, Seal Beach
Bring your own pumpkin to paint and wear your best costume. Halloween themed crafts and activities available. Register for this event at Seal Beach City Hall or online.

Carson Halloween Carnival & Dia De Los Muertos Program
Friday, October 27, 2017 5 PM - 10 PM, Sat and Sun October 28, 29, 2017 1 PM - 10 PM
Carson Community Center, 801 E Carson St, Carson
There will be a costume contest, games, carnival rides, raffles, decorated altar cemetery, face painting, food and vendor booths, modern dancers, and much more. Free Admission.

A Hocus Pocus Halloween Under the Guns
Friday, October 27, 5:30 p.m.
Battleship IOWA, 250 S. Harbor Blvd , San Pedro
All guests in costume and those accompanying small children will be invited on board for FREE to trick or treat through a portion of the historic battleship. Trick-or-treaters should be 13-years-old and younger and should bring their own “trick or treat” bags. At 7 pm, “Hocus Pocus” will be screened outdoors on the ship’s fantail.

Cerritos Sheriff's Station Haunted Jail
Saturday, October 28 at 3 PM - 9 PM
18135 Bloomfield Ave, Cerritos
Haunted jail, inflatable obstacle course, safety expo, music, and more! Fun for the whole. $3 suggested donation for admission to the haunted jail. Inflatable obstacle course is $1 or $5 for unlimited entry.

Lakewood Family YMCA Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 28
5835 E Carson St, Lakewood

Cypress Library Halloween Crafts
Saturday, October 28 at 2 PM - 3 PM
Cypress Library, 5331 Orange Ave, Cypress
Visit the Cypress Library for some creepy, crafty, fun. Free. For kids ages 5-12. In the Cypress Library Program Room.

Signal Hill Halloween Carnival
Saturday, October 28 at 3 PM - 6 PM
2175 Cherry Ave, Signal Hill
Join the fun. Activities include: jumpers, crafts, candy, train, games, food, and more. Wristbands will be on sale for $3 and are required for all activities.

Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 28, 2017, 5-7:30 pm
Little Cottonwood Park, 4000 Farquhar Ave, Los Alamitos
Free event will offer trunk-or-treating, treasure hunting, games, costume contests and more! Be sure to dress in your Halloween best and bring a bag for all of your loot!

Halloween Festival at the Race Track
Saturday, October 28, 6 PM - 9 PM
Los Alamitos Race Course, 4961 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos
The Los Alamitos Race Course will be hosting their annual Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 28, 2017 with part of the proceeds benefiting the Boys & GIrls Club of Cypress. Admission is $3 and FREE for children. Plus, free parking. The carnival features a fun-packed evening of activities for the whole family. There are more than 20 carnival games, pony rides, arcade games, photo booth, and candy for all children. Each game ticket is 25 cents each.

Halloween Fun with Family and Friends
Saturday, October 28, 2017, 12 pm - 4 pm
Stanton Central Park, 10660 Western Ave., Stanton
The event will feature games, DJ entertainment, spooky stories, craft making, costume contests, food booths and a howling good time for everyone. Be sure to bring a trick-or-treat bag!

Howl-oween Festival
Saturday, October 28 at 2 PM - 6 PM
El Dorado Nature Center, 7550 E. Spring St., Long Beach
Trick-or-treat your way along the trails, visit the animal education village, or bounce yourself silly in the Ooh-possum Patch. There will also be puppet shows, face painting, food trucks and crafts. Parking is $7, and a suggested donation of $5 to support Partners of Parks/ Friends of El Dorado Nature Center at the gate.

Miller Children’s Halloween for Children with Diabetes
Saturday, October 28, 2pm -5pm
Long Beach Memorial, 2801 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach
Pediatric endocrinologists and their care team at Miller Children’s are supporting kids with diabetes by giving them a Halloween experience that doesn’t compromise their dietary needs. Patients will enjoy a “candy-free” fun-filled day of costumes, music, games, refreshments and prizes. The Fall Festival also benefits parents, especially those of newly diagnosed children, who can connect with families and find diabetes resources. Anaheim Fall Festival & Halloween Parade
Saturday, October 28, 2017
Downtown Anaheim, at the Center Street Promenade
Parade and Fall Festival with game and food booths, live entertainment, haunted house, pumpkin patch, costume contest and trick-or-treating. Food and craft booths are available for a nominal fee.

San Pedro and Wilmington Halloween Festivals
Saturday, October 28, 10am - 2pm
Two locations: Downtown Harbor in San Pedro and Wilmington Waterfront Park.
Kick off the day with a Halloween-themed Pet Parade from 10-11 a.m. Then from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., enjoy Happy Harbor Halloween, a free, family-friendly event that features a costume parade, music, arts and crafts, face painting, games, and fun for kids of all ages.

Halloween Zoo-tacular
Saturday, October 28 at 10 am to 4 pm
1 Irvine Park Rd, Orange
Activities include trick-or-treating, spooky kids crafts, a scavenger hunt, and fun games! Kids ages 12 & under. Activities are free with paid zoo admission ($2 per person, ages 2 & under free). Parking is $5.

Sanrio Costume Contest at Tanaka Farms
Saturday, October 28, 11am
Tanaka Farms, 5380 University Dr, Irvine
Come meet Hello Kitty and the other Sanrio characters at Tanaka farms, and participate in a costume contest.


Events on Sunday, October 29th

Downey 5th Dia de los Muertos Festival
Sunday, October 29 at 11 AM - 8 PM
Downey Theatre, 8435 Firestone Blvd, Downey
Free admission and free parking. This all day festival includes: Ballet Folklorico, Aztec Dancers, Papel Picado demonstrations and display, Decorate Calaveras, Costume Contests, Sculpture Alley, Food Trucks, Beer and Wine Garden and more.

LCC Harvest Festival 2017
Sunday, October 29 at 3 PM - 6 PM
Life Center Church, 6022 Candlewood St, Lakewood
This is a free family event. Free food, live music, games, prizes, bounce houses, inflatables, rock wall, trunk n’ treat, and more.

Haute Dog Howl-oween Parade
Sunday, Oct. 29, 2:30 p.m.
Marina Vista Park, corner of Colorado St. & Santiago Ave.
Will include more than 500 costumed dogs and a few thousand dogless gawkers. Haute Dogs is expected to again donate thousands of dollars to animal welfare programs from money raised. FREE to watch. Rent a chair on-site for $5 cash.

Halloween Spooktacular Celebration at the Anaheim Marketplace
Sunday, October 29, 12– 5PM
Anaheim Indoor Marketplace, 1440 South Anaheim Boulevard, Anaheim
The Marketplace will host a costume contest for the most creative costume. Participants will be grouped according to age. Every age is welcome! Pumpkin decorating, face painting, games, and more.

The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor
Select nights from September 28th to November 1st
Queen Mary,1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach
Recommended for 13 and over. Southern California’s most authentically terrifying haunt, opening September 28. Featuring FEAST, the new horrific maze onboard the ship venturing into previously unrevealed areas of the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor. General admission ticket prices start at just $20 online.

Spooky Science at OC Discovery Cube
September 30th to October 31st
2500 N Main St, Santa Ana
Perfect for kids ages 2 to 7 years old. Visit Frankenstein’s laboratory, make your own slime, and more. All the spooky Science fun is included with museum admission.

Boo @ LA ZOO
October 1 – 31, 2017, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Los Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Dr, Los Angeles
Live performances, special animal feedings, pumpkin carving, and more—on weekends. With trick-or-treating throughout the Zoo on October 28 and 29 only.
